Two people can be married, live in the same house, eat at the same dinner table...and yet be complete strangers. There is more to marriage than just a mailing address! There is a oneness, unity...often called intimacy...that doesn't happen automatically in marriage. It takes work...but the time and effort is worth it!
This series is called Designed for Intimacy..where we will try to build an understanding of true intimacy in marriage ...and guide you through the steps to grow the intimacy in your marriage!
Genesis 2:24-25 24 Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh. 25 And they were both naked, the man and his wife, and were not ashamed.
-They were one flesh...an intimacy that isn't experienced in any other relationship
-They were naked...open, exposed, vulnerable
....not just physically, but emotionally, spiritually, experiential, intellectual
God designed you and your spouse to feel a closeness that is not...and should not be...fulfilled by any other relationship.
emotional intimacy - sharing of thoughts and feelings..
spiritual intimacy - sharing like faith and growing in Christ together
relational intimacy - how you interact with each other and with others
physical intimacy - the loving touch between you and your spouse
This is the first part of a series on intimacy..
